Sony Playstation Android 2011-12, Limited To SE Xperia Play

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which is a Playstation-certified handset that is running on the Android operating system is getting ready for launch and in preparation, SE is getting their games catalog finalized. As it stands now, the Android market has a number of Playstation 1 (PSX) game titles, but unfortunately, the vast majority of Android devices will not be able to either download or play them.

The Xperia Play is expected to launch shortly within Europe and Verizon will launch their own branded version later this month. In addition to these moves, Sony has also made an effort to clean up the Android market, placing requests that PSX emulators be removed from the market. Although the emulators are not exactly illegal, it does infringe on Sony’s intellectual property and one can not fault them for this move.
